DIY Handcrafted stamps
Handmade stamps have been around for a very long time. From the first wooden block stamps and wax seals to the relatively recent addition of rubber stamps, stamping has been a way to communicate alongside the written word.
Materials for creating stamps include, but are not limited to, wood, linoleum, silicone and photopolymer. Some materials are easy to work with, others require skills and tools and others can't be done without fairly sophisticated equipment (i.e. photopolymer).
If precision is not fundamental and a more artistic approach is preferred, you could use such mediums as erasers, corks or even a potato to create a simpler stamp.
But when it comes to precision, luckily commercially available rubber stamps are still very popular and in many cases quite affordable. The same, albeit a bit more expensive, goes for custom ordering your own stamp.
